Delicious. I'm very glad I decided to eat here. I'm from out of town and couldn't decide between His Place and Moon Indian across the street because they both have excellent reviews. So I ate a fried chicken basket here and then went to Moon for a full meal. No, I'm not 3000 pounds, I'm 130 pounds of unfillable tummy. I would rate both restaurants a 5. Not sorry I went to both.

I recently visited and was blown away by the red velvet waffles--they were fluffy, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the cream cheese frosting, which I couldn't stop dipping them in. The fried chicken was tasty, though the size of the breast could have been larger to better match the waffle-to-chicken ratio. The real standout was the sides--each one was delicious, with no misses at all. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'm excited to return and try more items from the menu.

I was introduced to His Place Eatery - North by yelper Ann L, a yelper out of Indianapolis who visited and posted a picture of the fried chicken with collard greens and sweet potatoes which I came across on my yelp feed. Once I noted its location being in a city that I was visiting soon, His Place Eatery - North became a must visit for me. I chose and made my way to this restaurant which sat no more than 10 miles in distance from my hotel, the Hampton Inn Indianapolis Downtown Across from Circle Centre. I was acknowledged shortly after I walked in and up to the counter to look at the laminated menu. It always takes me some time to look through the menu, especially when I am unfamiliar with the restaurant. I ended up ordering the vegetable plate, which was recommended by the server, Tiffany J. The vegetable plate comes with three sides, with either white bread or a cornbread muffin. The three sides I chose were collard greens, mac & cheese, bourbon creamed corn along with a cornbread muffin. It was Tiffany who recommended the bourbon creamed corn as I nearly considered mashed potatoes as one of my sides. My order was completed in no more than 10 minutes, and I was well on my way. I must say that the customer service was very welcoming at His Place Eatery which made me feel as though I was not in the city of Indianapolis. You know the phrase southern hospitality? Well, you know what? I received nothing but midwestern hospitality at His Place Eatery and it will never be forgotten. I took my order to-go since I had yet to check into my hotel, and I was in town for the Philadelphia 76ers vs Indiana Pacers basketball game which was scheduled to start an hour from the time I visited. An ideal spot for southern food, His Place Eatery appeared clean, and its atmosphere gave off a nice vibe. And there are a number of tables and seating available inside of the dining area along with televisions which I must say adds a nice touch. Now as for my food, the mac & cheese was the first of the sides I ate, and it was made just right: not too watery nor too cheesy of a taste. I did like the bourbon creamed corn because it was something different compared to plain corn as it was flavored with bourbon and prepared with onions and peppers. Mmm, yes! The collard greens were the last of the sides I ate which were far from a let-down. As a vegetarian, I love some good old collard greens, and these collard greens were definitely good! All sides went so well with the cornbread muffin which I must say I wish was bigger in size. While adding the final touches to this review, the thought of visiting His Place Eatery - North again put the biggest smirk on my face. I look forward to that when visiting the city of Indianapolis again in the future. And as Ann L shared the goodness of this restaurant, I share my endorsement of it as well with you all. ~ Good vibes coming your way ~ Thomas G

Yesterday was my second visit here. Being from the south I love good southern style cooking. They got some of the best fried chicken I have ever eaten and that's saying something for those that know me. I love the macaroni and cheese here as well. The dressing was decent. I wish they would offer fried okra. My last visit I ordered the chicken as well but I added a fried pork chop to see how it was because that's my second favorite meat. It wasn't seasoned as well as the chicken is. But I'm going to try it again. I tasted someone's collards and I think they cook theirs in vinegar which I'm not a fan of that but I do love collards. We live far north Noblesville otherwise we would eat here more often.

Run- don't walk to his place eatery. In my head i had it that they just served chicken and waffles.. not the case.. they have a ton to choose from + chicken and waffles! Hubby asked the server to recommend either the pulled pork or brisket and with no hestitation our server said pulled pork. He knew! Appreciate when staff know the food. Server and rest of staff were all friendly - food was fast and well made. Crispy chicken with nice seasoning - i'll be back to try more. Restaurant has a new modern feel with bright lighting and modern fixtures

His place eatery has amazing food. This is their second location. James Jones is the owner. He was privileged enough to have his restaurant featured on Guy Fetti's drive-in diners and dives. One of the things they featured was a collard green grilled cheese. It was amazing. I have never had collard greens before so I thought I would try it, really really good and the bourbon creamed corn is one of my favorites. My husband always gets the meatloaf. That's something he gets every time and the banana pudding. The location on 86 street is larger than the Shadeland location. But both places the food is amazing.

My cousins are in town and we were all in the mood for a good soul food dinner minus me cooking haha. I instantly thought of His Place & had intentions of visiting the new location so this was the perfect opportunity. When we entered we were instantly greeted by the hostess and another gentleman who was working with carry-out. Both were very friendly & made us feel welcome. We anticipated a long wait since it was a Sunday afternoon but to our surprise we were seated within 10 mins. Let me just say, they really stepped it up with this new location. It's very nice and spacious inside. It was also very clean and they played some subtle old skool r&b that was low enough that you could still hold conversations without feeling like you're yelling. My food was 10/10 highly recommend! My goodness! I had the chicken & waffles. The chicken was fried to perfection & perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of crisp. The waffle was fluffy & the butter really helped elevate the taste. It also came with 2 sides, I got the Mac & candied yams. I'm picky about both but they delivered. The best part was the price haha, it was only 20.99. I also got their signature drink, the uptown the best was to describe it is it's an Arnold Palmer but better. Our server was really nice and attentive. She brought out refills before we had to ask and made sure we had a great experience. Everyone we came in contact with was really personable and friendly. If you're in the mood for some good ol' southern cuisine, I recommend you check them out! Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

This might be the best restaurant in Indianapolis! Every dish we've tried has been top-notch, and the consistency in both flavor and quality is unmatched. One of my absolute favorites has to be the Churro Waffles. These were perfectly crispy on the outside, with that cinnamon-sugar sweetness that just melts in your mouth. My daughter can't get enough of the Red Velvet Waffles, which are rich and decadent. The boneless fried chicken breasts are amazing. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and fried to golden perfection. Pair that with any of their sides, and you've got a meal that keeps you coming back for more. If you're in Indianapolis, do yourself a favor and make His Place Eatery a priority. You won't regret it!

Eat breakfast. Definitely eat breakfast if you're playing beach volleyball for three hours. If not your 3PM breakfast at His Place Eatery will simply not exist by 3:03. I'm not one to drop $20 on southern cuisine, but if there's a place to do it ... pfft it's here. Server called me "boss" which made me sit a bit taller. Preesh. My plate consisted of sweet potatoes, Cajun Grilled Catfish, and creamed corn. As a PSA, they mean candied here when they say it. I was at the dentist this week but might need to double back ASAP. Former aquatic inhabitant? Deleted. Truth be told I couldn't see straight from the protein headache I'd conjured, but I'm sure it's the real deal. Now onto the showstopper ladies and gentlemen. I know it might be the Hoosier within or Thanksgiving stan I am, but that maize medley made me mop the bowl. From a self-proclaimed corn casserole lover, this made me lean back and consider a few things. When Goggins asked who'll carry the boats, this dish did. Pay some respect your next trip into HPE. In addition to the marvels nearest my mouth, the woman who brought me into this world sat near. She flaunted a tantalizingly crunchy Smokehouse Grilled Cheese far too close to my face, so I stole some bites like a good son. Who wouldn't? An hour later I lay horizontal nearing the ambush of a nap. Cheers you beauties!
